The SHEL is lucky enough to collaborate with some

The SHEL is lucky enough to collaborate with some amazing folks at additional institutions outside SDSU, including UCLA, the RAND Corporation, the LA LGBT Center, and the Trans Wellness Center. Alex Dopp, PhD, Kim Murtaugh, PhD, and Risa Flynn work closely with the SHEL on PrEP Well. This project created and continues to build a collaborative ‘one stop shop’ at the @transwellnesscenter in LA to increase ease of access to PrEP linkage and other social services for the TGNB community.

Owen (he/him) is a 2nd year MPH student at SDSU in the Health Promotion and Behavioral Science concentration. He received his Bachelor's degree in Public Health with a focus in Worksite and University Health Promotion from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. His research interests include tobacco cessation, HIV prevention, worksite wellness, and mental health. When Owen is not doing research, he enjoys watching reality tv with his cat Louie.

Dr. Erik D. Storholm (he/him) is the director of the Sexual Health Equity Lab (SHEL) at SDSU. He was trained as a clinical psychologist but nowadays he mostly works in the area of public health. His work has centered on improving the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority populations. Dr. Storholm enjoys mentoring the next generation of socially active, community-engaged, sexual and gender minority health researchers. Dr. Storholm is an avid snowboarder, he loves to travel, and he spends most of his downtime with his chosen family :)

Benji Jensen (he/him) currently serves as Program Manager for the Sexual Health Equity Lab. Prior to his role at SHEL Benji has held various project management roles dedicated to university advising, retention, and development. He completed a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at the Ohio State University as well as a B.A. in Psychology at Creighton University. A fun fact about Benji is that his family is from the town with the world's largest bull statue. The statue’s name is Albert, weighs 45 tons, and is 30 feet tall.

Carrie is a second-year Ph.D. student in Public Health (Health Behavior track) at the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University. She previously attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for her MPH in Epidemiology with a concentration in Global Health (2019) and finished two bachelor’s degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2016). Her research interests include sexual and reproductive health equity, reproductive justice, social support, power dynamics in sexual relationships, and sexual/reproductive health education and access. She enjoys being active outdoors, cooking & eating yummy foods, knitting, reading, and trying new things.
